To assist students at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine transition between Dental School and the world of professional dental practice, the Eighth District Dental Society maintains an active mentoring program. The Council on the New Dentist provides input in the design of programs and services by the Eighth District to meet the needs of dentists in the first ten years of their practices.
A new Mentoring Program is currently being developed.
The Eighth District Council on the New Dentist also promotes dialogue between dentists and students by promoting an E-Mentoring program where participating dentists agree to be available to correspond electronically with students regarding clinical issues in their specialty area and to discuss career-related issues.
